Level 1 is off road, often in a car park or play ground. It shows me that you can control your bike well enough to be taken onto the road and I can also impart some skills to you which may be of use on the road. Level 1 is for all ages, often adults think they can skip this part, but the most advanced cycling is based on a good foundation of level 1 and 2. Here is an out line of level 1

Being able to start a ride with out help
Finish a ride with out help
Ride where you want to go
Understanding gears
Understanding how to use the brakes
Stopping in a controlled manner
Stopping quickly under control
Manoeuvre around objects with good control
Look all around, including behind while cycling in a straight line
Be able to ride one handed, and do a good signal while cycling in a straight line
